Now you're reading: ‘Uni & her Ukulele, in Titahi Bay’ —
November 17th, 2008 music, summer, Titahi BayMichelle, Keith, and I went out to Titahi Bay this afternoon. It’s a sweet little beach about half an hour’s drive out of Wellington. Michelle and I even went for a swim in the water, which was freezing, but so much fun- especially as I’ve not been to the beach in years.
We went out to Titahi Bay because Uni and her Ukulele were playing at “Aunty Daisy’s Boathouse“- an awesome little cafe with a rooftop stage that looks out over the beach. It was beautiful, and Uni’s amazing voice rang out across the water… I’m sure the mermaids all stopped to listen.
If you want to catch a glimpse of what it was like, do check out the videos I made!
Uni’s a gorgeous girl from San Franscisco, who’s currently on a tour of New Zealand and Australia (with her Ukulele). Back home she’s part of a group called “Uni & the Ding String Trio”, which includes a harp! She’ll be in the Waikato over the next few days, and in Auckland this weekend. If you have a chance to attend one of her shows, it’s well worth the visit.

I hung out with Uni before the show!
The stage at Aunt Daisy’s Boathouse was on top of the roof, looking out over the beach! Beautiful!

I liked Uni so much I bought all of her CDs. She even signed the inside slip of one for me. Uni will be my soundtrack for the summer!
